Bike Seizure- Section 59 Police Reform Act 2002

Good morning Resident,

This morning following multiple reports of a bike being ridden in an Anti-Social manner in the area, we located and seized the below bike under Section 59 of the Police Reform Act 2002: 

A Section 59 notice actually falls under the Police Reform Act 2002 rather than the Road Traffic Act, though it relates directly to anti-social driving. It gives police the power to warn drivers and seize vehicles used in a careless, inconsiderate, or anti-governmental/annoying manner. 

Legislation States:

(1)Where a constable in uniform has reasonable grounds for believing that a motor vehicle is being used on any occasion in a manner which—

(a)contravenes section 3 or 34 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 (c. 52) (careless and inconsiderate driving and prohibition of off-road driving), and

(b)is causing, or is likely to cause, alarm, distress or annoyance to members of the public,

Continued reports and information from local residents were able to lead us to this bike. Please do continue to report anything further you may see via 101 or online reporting.
